CEI-Europe Advanced Science and Technology Education

Dedicated to Continuing Education since 1980

Mission
The mission of CEI-Europe is to provide professional scientists and engineers with continuing education in state-of-the-art technology.

Vision
In 1980, Dr Birgit E. Jacobson, at the time associate professor in materials science, had returned to Sweden after four years as senior research associate at Stanford University. She brought with her an awareness of the need of the academic researcher and the active engineer to share an educational arena where state-of-the-art discussions could take place, a forum that would facilitate the fruitful interplay that results from discussion with compeers.

That insight formed the underpinnings of Continuing Education Institute-Europe, a company committed to the transfer of high tech knowledge.

In May 2003 Dr. Birgit E. Jacobson was elevated to Honorary Doctor by Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, for outstanding achievements in the field of international scientific education.

The honorary degree bestowed by Chalmers came on the heels of another international recognition. The University of Cambridge in England honored Dr. Jacobson with a By-Fellowship endowed by the Møller Center for Continuing Education and Churchill College. The Fellowship was awarded for outstanding contributions to international learning in advanced technology and recognizes Dr. Jacobson's educational initiatives and their advancement of avant garde knowledge within the global scientific community.

Faculty
CEI-Europe is not just another company active in the educational field. Dr. Jacobson’s personal commitment is reflected in the high standard of handpicked instructors from universities and high tech enterprises throughout the industrialized world. It is reflected too in the fact that so many very busy professionals continually return to instruct at CEI-Europe courses.

Only the best is good enough for CEI-Europe. No traditional university has access to a faculty equal to that of the internationally renowned instructors at CEI-Europe. No traditional educational company offers interdisciplinary programs in spearhead technology where attendees meet their professional peers in a think tank environment.

Not only are our instructors internationally renowned in the particular field of each, but all have demonstrated a pedagogic ability to impart technological expertise to a professional audience. Our 100 instructors also act as advisors for our forthcoming programs to ensure that the latest developments in the field will be included. For this reason, content of the courses change from year to year.

Venues
The educational programs are run at international venues, differing on a monthly basis. Venues are specially selected for cultural and historic interest and easy access to activities that encourage professional camaraderie outside the classroom. New friends might choose to ski on Davos' slopes, go punting on Cambridge’s own River Cam, or visit art museums in Barcelona. Other recurrent sites include Copenhagen in Denmark.

Learning is not confined to formal classroom situations. Attendees often mention that ad hoc discussions after the daily lectures give rise to a surge of new ideas and possibilities.

Mind-networking has become a hallmark of CEI-Europe educational programs.

Educational Levels and Options

  • Basic science updating Engineers sometimes arrive at the apex of their careers sooner than intended, for the simple reason that new technology has depreciated know-how gained at school only a few years before. A firm can make no wiser investment toward quality assurance than by developing its human resources. CEI-Europe’s educational programs developed for practicing engineers focus on recent technological breakthroughs.
  • Spearhead technologies The link that connects vision and product viability is knowledge. The number of new materials, new technologies, and new methods is constantly growing. Overviews and in-depth penetration of spearhead technologies provide breakthrough potential in areas vital to product renewal. Spearhead courses cover major knowledge domains: Advanced Materials, Semiconductor Technology and Devices, Circuit Design, Signal Processing and Telecommunications.
  • Interdisciplinary themes are specially created by CEI-Europe to enable study of multiple fields of knowledge to aid the quest for new R&D solutions and avoid product stagnation.

For two decades, CEI-Europe has supplied Europe’s technological forefront with the most recent advances in every scientific field we cover.

Who Attends
CEI-Europe has had more than 28,000 course attendees from every continent. Our learner clientele is diverse. CEI-Europe course programs attract participants from a diversity of nations and professional backgrounds: research scientists (from both basic and application levels), practicing engineers and engineering managers, R&D specialists, patent officers, suppliers to high tech firms.

The more than one hundred CEI-Europe courses held annually always attract preeminent researchers and scientists active in industry and the academic community

English is the lingua franca of our classroom.

Extending the Scope
If your business future indicates a need for educational themes other than those currently available from CEI-Europe, do not hesitate to contact us with suggestions. We are continually renewing both content and knowledge themes for open programs as well as corporate exclusive course.

CEI-Europe has a wide network of instructors in all new technologies, and extensive experience in tailoring educational programs for specific client needs.

Corporate-Exclusive Courses
Almost any of the open courses presented on our website can be customized to meet specific client needs. CEI-Europe can provide, in a closed venue, a continuing education option tailored for specific needs: to complement yesterday’s university training or to satisfy projected application criteria.

Whether a firm chooses to update the expertise of its staff or to upgrade its overall expertise, a self-contained learning environment will ensure corporate privacy.

Corporate-exclusive courses can be held at an international site selected by CEI-Europe or client’s venue. Our open courses are held in Europe, but corporate-exclusive courses are arranged at many global sites.

A corporate-exclusive forum extends the educational advantages

  • Confidentiality Internal issues crucial to your business can be discussed freely.
  • Targeted Learning The course can concentrate on existing knowledge gaps.
  • Corporate Conspectus An often noted spin-off effect is the emergence of a corporate mind-set and with it, consensus on relevant goals and action plans.
  • Dry Run Reduction A firm may send an employee to an open course to assess its benefits. If decision is taken to run the course in a corporate-exclusive forum, the company will be entitled to a reduction of the individual course fee.
