Mr. Howard Hausman, President and CEO of RF Microwave Consulting Services and Adjunct Professor at Hofstra University, United States, is teaching this 3-day course.
This course recognizes that design of modern microwave subassemblies relies largely on selecting and implementing a cascade of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) modules to meet the system project goals. Although the focus of this course is primarily on RF/Microwave Power Amplifiers the theory and techniques are applicable to many subsystem and system functions. The course is divided into three parts: (1) “Useful and Applicable Microwave Design Concepts” focusing on the high frequency modeling of parts, practical transmission line characteristics and handling the analysis small signal and large signal cumulative effects on performance, (2) “Designing the Microwave Power Amplifier” for communication systems and RADAR focusing on the cascading of modules, understanding and selecting the best applicable parallel amplifier topology and measuring modules for optimum matching and (3) “Designing the Power Amplifier System” including best practices for DC power distribution, thermal design and minimizing the effects of electromagnetic susceptance and emissions.
