Mr. Terry Edwards, Executive Director of Engalco-Research, UK, is teaching this 5-day course on Transmission Technologies and Circuits.
This course covers the fundamentals and applications of “planar” transmission technologies – principally microstrip but also to some extent other technologies such as co-planar waveguide (CPW) and substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW). Microstrip is the most significant and prolific of the RF integration technologies and it is important for “hybrid” microwave integrated circuits (HMICs: basically on ‘circuit board’) as well as monolithic circuits i.e. MMICs or RFICs: built using semiconductor substrates. Further coverage includes microstrip-based directional couplers, the Lange coupler, Wilkinson couplers, baluns and filters. Active filters are also included, with an example using high-impedance lines and varactor diodes.
