Course 876 CONA - Certified Optical Network Associate

In today's interconnected world, where data transmission requirements are exponentially increasing, learning about fibre optics and optical communications has become extremely important for many engineering and project management roles.

Mr. Michal Pěček is teaching this unique 5-day course from Optical Technology Training (OTT) that introduces fibre optic and optical networking to the wider audience. This training provides a broad foundation of knowledge on fibre optic infrastructure and the optical networking systems that operate over that infrastructure. You will learn the principles, techniques, and applications of transmitting information reliably and cost-effectively over optical fibre using direct detection transmission systems. These direct detection optical transmission systems may be used to provide very high capacity (up to 800Gb/s+) Ethernet channels within and between data centres in a cluster (up to 40km), LAN and campus backbones, FTTA & 5G front haul (typically at 10 and 25Gb/s), business customer connections, transport and utility networks, edge networks, inexpensive metro CWDM and cost-effective long-haul DWDM with up to 1Tb/s capacity per fibre pair.

You will design a network solution for a case study to light up a dark fibre network, which will prepare you for the real life challenges in your role as a network designer, planner, or project manager for example. The course is concluded by a practical and theoretical test. After successful passing of this test, you will be awarded CONA Certified Optical Network Associate certificate and are then eligible to progress to the advanced level CONE Certified Optical Network Engineer programme.
