TECHNOLOGY FOCUS
Human error due to a lack of cybersecurity knowledge and awareness is the leading cause of cyber-incidents. Cyber Security today is lost in a 'corporate Bermuda Triangle'. The CEO does not see how Cyber Security spendings relate to revenue. The Security Department has focus on protecting the confidential information whereas many security controls are under IT Management. And the third party, the Business Managers, are focused on business efficiency, automation, and new technologies.
Mutual understanding and daily attention to cyberthreats between these three parties are crucial to successful Cyber Security in the modern business.
COURSE CONTENT
This course begins with a 2-hour theoretical session on Industrial Cyber Security, giving clarification to the concepts and issues related to the topic.
The afternoon session consists of hands-on training by competing in the Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation (KIPS) game.
KIPS is an engaging and fast game. The competition fosters initiative and analytic skills and an understanding for cybersecurity measures.
This course is targeted at engineers, IT personel and line managers, and will increase the awareness of the risks and security problems that can arise when of running modern business and industrial control systems.
There is no need for deep security expertise prior to this course.

Malicious attacks on industrial systems - including industrial control systems (ICS) and supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA) - have increased significantly in recent years. As the Stuxnet and BlackEnergy attacks have shown, one infected USB drive or single spear-phishing email is all it takes for attackers to bridge the air gap and penetrate an isolated network. Traditional security is no longer enough to protect industrial environments from cyber threats. As threats targeting critical infrastructure increase, choosing the right advisor and technology partner to secure your systems has never been more important.
- Modern Cyber Security Issues
- Concepts and Terminology
KIPS simulates real-world cyber-attacks on industrial automation systems, demonstrating the main issues associated with providing industrial cybersecurity. As participants react and interact, they discover how they themselves can potentially impact the issues involved, developing the skills needed to resolve them.
- The real role of Cyber Security in business continuity and profitability
- Highlights of emerging challenges and threats related to modern Cyber Security
- What are the typical mistakes companies are doing when building their Cyber Security strategies?
- What kind of cooperation between business and security teams can help to maintain the stable operations of the enterprise and prevent damage from cyberthreats?
The Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation game is used at BASF, CERN, Mitsubishi, Yokogawa, RusHydro, Panasonic, ISA (International Society of Automation), and others, to train their own engineers, developers, and customer-facing personal how to to note and handle cybersecurity in industrial automation environments.
